HP: towards an elimination of 25,000 jobs

The HP group is still being reorganized after the 2011 disturbances and the evolution of the company could go through a severe downsizing to cut costs. Unofficially, Meg Whitman, CEO of the group, would have approved a plan for job cuts.

This could theoretically reach 10 to 15% of the workforce of 320,000 employees that the company account. The range of number of jobs lost is not defined precisely, its size ranging from 10 000 to 30 000 jobs lost according to sources.

This adjustment would be expected to be gradual and spread over at least a year. Meg Whitman will soon to be justified by citing the need for adaptation of society to economic conditions rather than a desire to improve its profitability to satisfy shareholders.

The savings should help free up resources for investment, the CEO of HP wanting to stand out from the pure austerity strategy Mark Hurd two years ago and already wanted to change his predecessor Leo Apotheker. The project will contain proposals for voluntary departure for several thousand employees.

Rebalancing the actual HP should be formalized next week. Analysts had expected such a decision after the announcement of the overhaul of the group's business and the merger of the PC and printing.
